OUTREACH/PASTORAL CARE
An emphasis of Welcome Ministry’s outreach is to build intentional one-to-one relationships with those who are unsheltered or economically vulnerable. In a gentle, open way our pastoral and care team members learn as much as we can about each person who visits us. We treat each person respectfully and compassionately in a spirit of hope, safety, and acceptance.
Because there is such considerable human need in our community, safety net resources are limited. Agencies are too often unable to assist homeless persons get into shelter and housing or receive social services. Welcome Ministry is a bridge for the homeless to mercy and care. As we are able, we offer emergency assistance and personal support to clients. We refer those needing case-managed services to providers with whom we collaborate, and assist others who need help accessing health care. We have offered memorial services honoring deceased homeless persons, and companioned surviving family members and friends in the days following.
